North Main Street railroad crossing closed for 48 hours

Norfolk and Southern is scheduling a complete rehabilitation of the railroad crossing on North Main near the train station. It is going to entail the complete closure of the road, in both directions, on August 31st and September 1st for a 48 hour period. The town is working with the railroad to provide detours to minimize traffic disruptions. To help with traffic flow and minimize delays, buses as well as parents and students driving to schools on Wednesday and Thursday this week, should allow extra time to use an alternate route. Traffic will be rerouted via Johnson Road and Brunswick Lane. See the attached image for detours. Drivers can also use I-81 to bypass the town.
