Explorers After School Program This after-school program is available Monday-Friday from 3:00pm to 6:00pm for $30.00 per week at MES. The program is provided through a collaboration with Smyth County and Smyth County Schools to provide a safe space and nurturing environment for children during after-school hours. The program also provides a snack, homework help, and recreational activities, and is staffed by Smyth County Schools employees. A representative will be available on Back to School night to meet with parents and answer any questions.
Future Hurricane Basketball Camp Future Hurricane Basketball Camp will be held June 3rd through the 5th, from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm, at MSHS Gym. Boys and Girls in grades 1-8 are eligible to participate. The cost is $50.00 and includes a camp t-shirt. To register, scan the QR code on the attached flyer. ELA Textbook Adoption for Grades K-5 Smyth County Public Schools will be holding a public viewing and opportunity for public comment on a new English Language Arts textbook adoption for grades K-5 from Thursday, April 18, 2024 until Friday, April 26, 2024. Please visit your student’s elementary school during normal hours to view and provide feedback on the proposed materials.

Spring Break 2024 Smyth County Schools will dismiss 2 hours early on Wednesday, March 27 for Spring Break. Schools will be closed from Thursday, March 28 through Monday, April 1. Students return to school on Tuesday, April 2, 2024.
2024 Smyth County Spelling Bee On January 25, 2024, Smyth County Public Schools held their county spelling bee at the Lincoln Theatre in Marion, Virginia. Students who won the spelling bee at their respective schools went on to participate in the county spelling bee.
